Medical Qigong for Health
The Meridians
The Chinese meridian system is made up of 14 main channels which interconnect throughout the body. When an imbalance occurs causing blockages in these channels we can experience pain and discomfort in our bodies. If these are not resolved they will result in illness. Using acupressure and off the body healing techniques to guide Qi and remove these blockages it is possible to restore harmony in the body.
The 5 Elements
The 5 elements are Fire, Metal, Water, Wood and Earth. Each element is associated with a particular organ within the body. These elements can affect each other causing illness and disharmony. Energetic disharmony in an organ can cause us to experience stuck emotions such as anger or sadness. The most common cause of illness in the West is stress which can be brought on in a multitude of different ways such as lifestyle, family life and work.
Yin and Yang
Yin and yang energy must be balanced in the body otherwise we can feel unwell or ill at ease in ourselves. Yin and yang energy exist together to form a whole, for example in an organ or in a meridian. They are two opposing, self generating and mutually dependent forces. Yin and yang exist in all earthly things, living or inanimate. They exist in the body from our cells to the human body as a whole. Energetic healing has the capability to focus on any aspect of your natural Qi to promote health and balance.
Medical Qigong
I use acupressure and healing techniques to help restore balance to my clients internal and external energy. My Traditional Chinese approach is similar to acupuncturists, without the use of needles. My approach to treating clients is very much client based, focusing on your particular wishes and needs.
My goal is to help you help yourself by understanding your health - cultivating, developing and maintaining your own energy system.
A typical initial treatment takes an hour and a half. This includes a half hour consultation and planning session and an hour long healing treatment. Clients may wish to have a course of 4 treatments, or to work on their own qigong practice after one or two treatments. Sometimes I give some light ‘homework’, (a book, or passage to read, a qigong exercise to practice or a meditation to do).
My fee is around £40 per hour, and is negotiable.
